Archery is an admirable way to hunt game. You first should find an archery range with a pro shop that can assist you with getting acquainted with a bow. Most usually offer hunting courses. There are plenty of magazines out there that can offer advice and technique. Check out Ted Nugent’s site for extreme bow hunting advice. Like ever thing else bow hunting takes time to master your skills, good luck and enjoy and respect everything nature has to offer.
There are two main types of hunting position and stalking in position you wait while stalking you move to your targets. I use position the normal range is 50 or less yards going to look at a bow today is best if under 16 to wait as may grow alot then bow you buy be useless. Bow hunting can be a more challenging experince then using firearm as have to have game come in close range best if using blinds or stands have positoned close enought ot bait or game trails cover scent is very important if want to use attracting scents up to you just be sure put in right spot good luck
Very nice of you parents to start you in this nice sport. And for your equipment really suggest going to an archery store-have them fit you with your new bow and arrows.
And have a good rest installed. And good sights too.
Some even have indoor ranges where you can get lessons.
There is just to much information to cover regarding hunting with a bow to even attempt to do so here. However you can find a lot of good information on the net. And most sporting good stores also have excellent books on the subject.
Prior to even thinking of going hunting you need to learn how to shoot. And with good accuracy.
Place your target 10 yds from you. Using your new bow sight-sight in so you can shoot a close group at this close range. Less than 6 inches. Then move back to 20 yards. Will have to sight in again. After some practice you should consistently be able to shoot
A six inch group—- or smaller.
Most deer are killed with a bow at this range. However I would also sight in at 30 yds.
If you are using carbon arrows you may need only one sight pin.
After you become a proficient shooter THEN it is time to work on your stealth hunting skills.

Bow range is what limits you set for yourself by what range you shoot the most accurate!Lets just say 20 yards for starters,ok!
Yes camo’s scents and calls can and will help you very much!
I would if just starting out use a tree stand with all the safety needs!
Look for a major deer trail with good daily activity place your stand about 10 to 15 yards downwind of the trail deer will be coming on.Your stand does not need to be high up but stay still and camo your stand with some brush to blend it in!Get in stand early and if you try you will learn from nature the sounds the walking patterns of wildlife!These will help you when it comes time and a deer may be near you the woods may change and the deer notice this so be patient relax wiat for the deer to come into your range.Have a few shooting lanes preplanned for you to make shots through and when the deer steps into one have yourself ready!
I dont recommend you spending most of your time trying to still hunt, at first this takes time to become good at it but do practise it!With still hunting you walk very slowly( I pace myself at no more than 100 yards per hour)once you locate a animal you the put on a stalk to try to get near enough for it to be in your killing range.
What I have said here is very basic and you can find some very good reading on the internet to give you lots more of needed information.No one can “tell you ” what all you need to know in this forum but we can help answer a few questions and point you in the correct direction for help!

Archery is a real man’s way to hunt. It is tens times more challenging, but 200 times more rewarding. The range I shoot my bow is from 60 yards and under. I have shot above 60 but find that I am not accurate enough to ensure a clean kill. Archery can be expensive if you buy the best of the best, but its cheap compared to buying the best of the best in rifle equipment. You will need to be in tip top shape and peak physical condition. Archers cover a lot of ground on any and all hunts, but archery gets you extremely close to big game. It is the most fun I have ever had on a hunt. Get some good camo clothes and gear. Because most archery seasons are earlier in the year than rifle seasons, the weather can be hotter, so get a good pack with a hydration system as well. You will need to practice calling for animals like elk and whitletail deer. Scents are always a good idea during the rut or mating season for an animal. Don’t get discouraged if you do not kill an animal the first year you hunt with a bow, it is tough and takes a lot of practice! A lot! Go to your local sporting goods store or archery shop and talk to them about getting set up. I shoot a Hoyt Vectrix with all Fuse accessories and a Scott string release. I shoot Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 350 arrows with AAE Max Hunter Vanes and Muzzy MX-4 broadheads. Nothing shoots better! Give it a try and you will be hooked for life!
i will have to agree with the rest and say for equipment go to an archery shop and get fitted and have a bow fit you not you try to fit the bow
I stay 20 yards and less for deer hunting
OH, BOY ……. THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN BOW HUNTING I USED TO HUNT WITH GUN AND ABOUT TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO I SHOT MY FIRST DEER WITH A BOW (A SMALL DOE) BUT I STILL REMEMBER EVERY SIGHT, SMELL, FEELING EVERY SENSATION OF IT AND EVERY ONE SINCE THERES NOTHING LIKE GETTING WITHIN A FEW FEET OF YOUR PREY, KNOWING THAT A WRONG MOVE OR SOUND WILL SEND THAT POTENTIAL TROPHY (AND EVERY DEER BY BOW IS A TROPHY) WAVING HIS TAIL AT YOU, ALMOST ANYONE CAN SHOOT A DEER FROM SEVENTY PLUS YARDS, BUT IT TAKES PATIENCE AND SKILLTO GET THEM IN CLOSE AND TAKE ONE WITH A STICK AND STRING.
GO TO A PRO SHOP FIND A COMFORTABLE BOW THAT FITS YOU THEY CAN HELP YOU A GREAT DEAL AT THE SHOP FROM THERE ON… PRACTICE !!!!!
